Throughout 2018 we are running a book club, for year 6 pupils, that will take place at Hanley High School involving the schools in the MAT. It is a great opportunity to talk about different books, but also a chance to meet with other year 6 pupils as well as spending sometime at the high school in readiness for the next academic year. Our whole school topic is all about charity and kindness and is called, ‘Money makes the world go round?’ The aim of this topic is to challenge the children’s thinking of the value of money and discuss how important it really is. Maths will play an integral part with plenty of calculations and investigations too. The grand finale, beginning the week of the 29th January, will
42 children, yes an incredible 42 children had their poetry selected to be published in an anthology. This is a nationwide competition, and the children’s work will be published alongside others from Worcestershire and Warwickshire. A huge congratulations to everyone who entered.

Poetry page Click on the link to see the current poetry competition. It is run by Young Writers and the closing date is the 20th October 2017. Teachers may be including it in their lessons at school. If your child would like to take part, and write a poem at home, please encourage this and bring any poems into school by the 17th October
There will be plenty of activities taking place in school this week. Assemblies this week will have a reading theme. In book buddies the children will be learning the poem, Now We Are Six by A.A.Milne. A drama group will be performing the story Little Rabbit Foo Foo in assembly.
